Lincoln's House & Lincoln's Tomb Springfield, Illinois
Well...It's me, Alien.
Pretending to be a master of the house.
Spring has come. Alien visited Springfield in Illinois since it is spring.
Springfield is a city where Mr. Lincoln had lived for 25 years till he became President.
The only house Lincoln owned remains in the city (He might not have another chance to buy more houses since he was assasinated in his presidency.
Alien was not invited but visited his house.
Oops, it was not real.
Alien made an appointment with a ranger at the visitor's center since Alien couhldn't enter the house without her/him.
A ranger guy came after Alien had a conversation with a staff for 15 minutes.
Let's go.
Hello!
Drawing-room.
Lincoln and other politicians had political conversations here...
Play room for kids.
Alien wonder what kids were doing here.
Dining room.
Mrs. Lincoln could not cook first since she was from a rich family. She studied cooking for Mr. Lincoln.
Mr. Lincoln was from a poor family.
At his time, dishes like this was only for very wealthy people. What's a advancement.
His huge advancement still earns respect from Americans.
Room for Servant.
A teen servant girl was treated well.
This size of a room with foods for a servant job was pretty good in Lincoln's time.
Mr. Lincoln was probably a very good person.
Local people loved him.
What Alien found particually interesting was...
lavatory.
It was at a corner of Mrs. Lincoln's bedroom.
The container under Mr. Lincoln's bed was also a lavatory basin.
It must have smelled.
People used such in-room lavatory basins in cold winter since it was time and energy consuming to use bathroom outside.
It was the outside bathroom on backyard.
Why two? Two persons might use the bathroom together?
Alien learned bathroom system in the 19th century.
Mr. Ranger told all the stories Alien wrote here.
Alien could tell he loved history and Mr. Lincoln.
Alien said bye-bye to the ranger and the house.
Next stop is Lincoln's tomb.
This is a tombstone for Mr. Lincoln.
He was killed after the Civil War ended.
Statue of Mr. Lincoln's head.
The nose was shining due to a myth: You will live happily if you touch his nose.
Let's try... Excuse me, Mr. Lincoln.
Ho!
Alien touched it!
That must promise Alien's happier travel on the earth.
By the way, this is a photo with Mr. Lincoln.
Alien took it in a small museum close to Lincoln's House.
Mr. Lincoln was 6'4'' tall. Tall guy! He had a good figure.
Alien am going to exercise for a smaller face like Mr. Lincoln.
