This courthouse is a place where Mr. Dred Scott, an enslaved man, sued his owner for his freedom.
The decision was a catalyst for the American Civil War.
Alien don't write historical background and the impact of the decision since it would be too long for this blog. If you are interested in, you can read

or other resources.
Alien learned about slavery by reading panels at the first floor.
Well... the only way African American slaves obtain freedom was buying their freedom.
Slaves earned money for buying freedom through their wages for Sunday work and other occupations.
Outrageous.
Alien read another panel.
Well... One's slave status was determined by her/his mother's slave status, regardless of who her/his father was.
A mother killed her child for not making him a slave. Slave status was worse than death.
Heartbreaking.
We are so blessed to be free when we were born. Well, Alien am not born here since Alien am from space, but Alien enjoy freedom of traveling.
At the courthouse rotunda.
Beautiful.
There was a display that mocks a courtroom.
Feel like being a chief judge.
Alien looked at all displays and got out of the buidling.
Alien met a statue of Mr. and Ms. Scott there.
What are they looking at?
The US is often said as a country of liberty and equality.
The US may value liberty and equality as American ideals since both don't exist...Stil now it sounds very hard to achieve complete liberty and equality in this country.
