Fushimi Inari Taisya (Shinto Shrine) Kyoto, Japan

Well...It's me, Alien.

Alien am not a Japanees specter.

Alien visited Fushimi Inari Taisya, the head of Inari shirines across Japan.

This is the most popular sightseeing place for foreign tourists.

Will it be the best for Alien?

Alien purified Alien's hands and mouth before entering the ground of the shrine.

Alien walked to the hall of worship.

Alien vowed and prayed there, but didn't take photos since photo-taking was prohibited in that area.

It is important to follow their rules.

Let's try omikuji (the fortune).

f:id:alientravel:20130604035334j:plain

Huge for Alien.

Here it is.

f:id:alientravel:20130604035417j:plain

It says 6.

Alien told the number and paied 200 yen to get a paper fortune.

The result was...

f:id:alientravel:20130604035903j:plain

Sue-Kichi... it means the smallest blessing.

Not bad, but not good.

It is a custom to fold up the strip of omikuji paper and attach it to a tree or wires when the prediction is bad.

You need to use your non-dominant hand.

f:id:alientravel:20130604040221j:plain

The not-good prediction will go away. What a great system.

Let's move deeper inside.

f:id:alientravel:20130604040502j:plain

There were so many visitors. It was a holiday and summer vacation for children. Yes, this is the most popular place.

f:id:alientravel:20130604041105j:plain

It was very hot.

The entire mountain is the shrine. Visitors need to climb the small mountain to see everything there.

f:id:alientravel:20130604042234j:plain

Alien saw just a part of the mountain.

This is Omo-Karu Ishi (Heavey-Light Stone).

f:id:alientravel:20130604042031j:plain

Visitors think about their wish and lift the stone.

If the stone is lighter than you expected, your wish comes true easily.

If the stone is heavier than you expected, your wish is hard to achieve.

Alien lifted the stone, wishing to be an pop idol. The stone was very heavy...it may be very hard to be an pop idol!

Torii (Shrine gates) there were dedicated by companies and individuals.

f:id:alientravel:20130604042901j:plain

Since Fushimi Inari Taisya is for good bussiness, many CEOs dedicated the shrine gates.

Anyone can dedicate a gate. This is the price list.

f:id:alientravel:20130604043507j:plain

A big one costs about $13000.

...How many years Alien should save money to buy it?

Alien found a small shrine for good marrige tie.

f:id:alientravel:20130604052519j:plain

A lot of foxes.

f:id:alientravel:20130604052534j:plain

Uhhh people are wishing a good marrige.

Alien met a cat.

f:id:alientravel:20130604053221j:plain

Beautiful eyes.

There are many stray cats in Japan.

Alien am a free stray alien.
